Vixar has recently published an application note on the optical properties of top-emitting VCSELs.
The characteristics of VCSELs can be controlled through the proper design of the VCSEL die. The important requirements of the optical light source for sensing applications, including 3D sensing and imaging, are described in the application note. The optical properties of VCSELs, including beam shape, angular divergence, and spectral characteristics, are described in detail to better educate how Vixar engineers its products to better match end-user requirements.
